Endless Traffic Tap: The Best Free Traffic Generation Methods
Let’s face it. You probably DON’T have a huge amount of money to spend on traffic generation. It is however something you need to do in your business, so you’re probably wondering ‘just what are the best free traffic generation methods?’
Using free methods doesn’t have to mean that you get worse results than if you were using paid traffic methods either. In fact in many cases nothing could be further from the truth – in my experience free methods can sometimes give better results than paid methods! (but not always)
Here are what I consider to be some of the best free traffic generation methods:
1. Internet forums
Find relevant forums which cover your subject area (if you’re not sure which they are a simple Google search should point you towards what you’re looking for). Once you’re there, sign up as a member and create a signature which includes a link back to the website you want to promote. From there it’s simply a case of getting stuck into the threads, helping people and demonstrating your knowledge. If you come across to people as an expert you should find that people start clicking on your link to find out more about you. Give it a go – it works!
2. Blog commenting
This is a little like marketing through internet forums in the sense that the aim is to get stuck into the conversion and demonstrate your knowledge and/or experience to others. Look for blogs which seem to have an endless traffic tap and make comments on some of the posts. A good strategy here is to find the most active posts and make a comment on those (this means that you will be seen by lots of people.) It also helps if you are one of the first to comment as more people will read your message than if you are, say, the 35th person to comment.
3. Blogging
Search engines love blogs because they are a source of current and regularly updated content. Having your own blog is a ‘must’ if you are serious about driving traffic to your website. Keep it up to date, post interesting stuff and you’ll find that people become regular visitors. You can use your blog to drive traffic in a number of ways – for example including links in your posts or by placing banners or adverts around your blog content for people to click on.
4. Article marketing
Article marketing is one of the most tried and tested methods out there. The objective is to again demonstrate your expertise (can you see a theme developing here?), whilst drawing in the reader and getting them to check out your website through your resources box. Article marketing can be quite time consuming but as you progress you’ll find that you can write articles faster and faster. Of course if you don’t fancy doing it all yourself you could easily hire a ghostwriter to do it for you or use PLR and take it from there.
5. Social media – Facebook and Twitter
No guide to the best free traffic generation methods would today be complete without mentioning social media. Sites such as Facebook and Twitter are a growing at an astonishing rate and if you’re not seriously using them as one of your traffic generation methods you are missing out on something huge! Different social networking sites work in different ways – you can use Facebook to create fan pages, for example, and Twitter to post ‘tweets’ – but the same recurring theme pops up here too… use them to create a conversation and then encourage people to check out your websites.
